Who has access to my class?
All teachers and students who are entered under "Class Book"> "Class" can enter your virtual class. |
All teachers have the same rights and can see, edit or delete all content created by the students. |
Pupils only get their own texts, documents, tasks and work plans (unless otherwise configured). |
All programs in the virtual class are web applications, i.e. all you need is a web browser on a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. |
You can optionally unlock computers in your class for your own virtual class, so that students can enter the virtual class and create content without passwords (however, various functions are not available in this mode). See the information on the Computer page. |
All teachers and students on Oli.education.lu have a username and password with which they can access the platform at any time with their computer / laptop, tablet or smartphone. You cannot change the user name, but you can reset your password at any time, you will find the corresponding function in the top right of your user menu under "User account". You cannot change your username, but you can update your profile name on Oli.education.lu at any time. To do this, go to the "Profile" function in the top right of the user menu.
Both teachers and students should know their password by heart and should not write it down inside the school. |
You may never share your password with anyone else. Students may be able to share their password with their parents, but they should never share passwords with joy or other family members. |
If a web browser at school asks if you want to save your password, then you should definitely answer with NO. |
For students: If other students should know your password or if your password should be saved on a computer / in a web browser, you should change this IMMEDIATELY and you should do it for security reasons log out of all devices. If you are not sure about this, please notify your parents, a teacher, and write to support. |
For teachers: Never leave your computer unattended when you are logged in. If you want to stay logged in during the whole school time, please use a screensaver with password protection. |
If you suspect that someone may have stolen your password, you should check your last logins on Oli.education.lu. Go to your user menu in the top right and click on "User account", and then on the right on the "Logins" function. Just to be sure, you should still change your password and log out on all devices (you can log out other devices e.g. under "User Account"> "Privacy Assistant"). |
Always log out at school or on public computers!
For pupils: When you leave your workplace on the computer, you should always log out, even if you e.g. just have to go to the toilet quickly. While you are away, other students can edit your texts, change your profile, or post messages on your behalf. |
For teachers: It is practical to always stay logged in on the computer at the desk, so you should always use a screensaver with password protection. Students should generally not work on the teacher's computer, or at least use another account on the computer. |
Useful note for teachers: You can "authorize" computers in your school to access your virtual class, then students can work on the student computers on Oli.education.lu without having to log in again and again. In addition, the children will not be able to access their profiles and communication tools. Further information can be found on the computer page. |
Your profile on Oli.education.luOn Oli.education.lu you can not only change your name, you can also upload a profile photo and voluntarily provide information about yourself. All this can be set via your profile, which you can find in the user menu at the top right under "Profile".
Always disclose a minimum of information about yourself, and never publish personal information that no one should know. Under no circumstances should you publish data such as telephone numbers or addresses. Remember that other users and visitors to the platform can see this information in part. |
As a student, you and your parents and / or teachers should decide what information you could possibly publish. Teachers should know what they want to reveal about themselves. |
Oli.education.lu is a social network, i.e. Teachers and students can become friends, send messages to each other and publish content.
The social functions and communication tools can be switched off for each student if necessary. |
Parents can log in with the student's password and then switch off the individual functions (microblog, friendships, chat, messages, homepage) under "User account"> "Communication". Please note that pupils and parents cannot switch this function on again independently, this must be done either via the teacher or via support. |
Teachers can switch the functions for each student on and off in their virtual class (under "Class Book"> "Class"> "Edit Student"). |
As in the real world, an online community only works well if all members abide by the rules and treat each other in a friendly manner. So please read the rules of the community before using this platform - thanks! Clarify problems among studentsOli.education.lu enables students to work together on texts and projects as well as to exchange information and publish content. While these are great opportunities overall, just like in the real world, there is a risk that there can be conflict and disputes online. In case of problems, you should proceed as follows:
If there is a dispute between students in a class or school, the students should definitely contact the teachers first. In most cases, problems can be solved quickly. |
If the problem cannot be solved in this way, then you should contact support. |
Important note for teachers
Attention! Under no circumstances may teachers ... |
... give the students their own password. |
... allow the students to use a computer on which they are logged in. |
... Unlock student computers with their own password and then let students work on them. |
Remember that the teacher login allows access to all data of the class and possibly also to other applications of the Ministry of Education! |
The virtual class is a powerful tool for storing and managing information, but as a teacher you should only ever specify the absolutely necessary minimum of personal data of the students. |
It is not allowed to use the virtual class to store sensitive data (eg internal reports about students) and it is not allowed to save personal data (e.g. phone numbers, addresses, ...) of the students . |
If you as a teacher upload photos of students to the platform (whether public or in a protected area), you should definitely get written consent from your parents in advance. |
As a teacher and / or as a creator of a virtual class, you are obliged to comply with local, national and international laws and regulations. |
