Interdisciplinary – making learning deep and relevant!

Kontext / Contexte
Schools and teachers who wish to develop interdisciplinary links in Secondary. This workshop aims to encourage interdisciplinary links through a variety of ways in all subject areas. It includes links that involve one teacher and links which involve two or more teachers collaborating.
The workshop is directed to teachers who speak English quite fluently but may not be native speakers. The language used in the workshop is basic and not advanced.
Zielsetzung / Objectifs
Knowledge
The participants will know:
- different approaches to making links between subjects
- important considerations when planning interdisciplinary units
- how to ensure deep learning in interdisciplinary units
- creativity in interdisciplinary units
- assessment in interdisciplinary units.
Know-how
The participants will be able to:
- decide if an interdisciplinary curriculum link is worthwhile or not
- collaboratively plan interdisciplinary curriculum links
- document interdisciplinary curriculum links
- assess interdisciplinary curriculum units.
Perspective
The participants will:
- appreciate the power of collaboration with others
- appreciate the learning power of interdisciplinary curriculum links.
Inhalt / Contenu
This workshop aims to help teachers and schools ensure that curriculum links between subjects are meaningful and enhance understanding. Participants in this workshop consider different ways that a school can design, plan, organize and celebrate interdisciplinary links in the curriculum.
