AI, ethics and future-proofing the classroom
(Code : D6-a-56)
Kontext / Contexte
There's great potential for Generative AI to support educators and students and potentially improve education, but there need to be ethical conditions and design principles in place. How can we make sure that human abilities are enhanced, not replaced by Artificial Intelligence (AI) ? Plus, how do we take into account the needs of each individual, as well as the collective and the planet?
In this workshop we will explore the tools, knowledge and awareness to apply AI with grace, with dignity and care, in the classroom. During this workshop, we not only learn about and practice with Gen.AI tools to unlock their potential for more efficient, creative, inclusive and intelligent classrooms, but also develop an ethical compass to guide the use of Gen.AI with grace.

Inhalt / Contenu
In today's digital age, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into education brings both opportunities and challenges. This workshop is designed for secondary and primary school teachers aiming to navigate the ethical implications of AI while fostering critical thinking, real-world relevance, and collaborative learning environments in their classrooms.
Key concepts we will explore:
Self-Directed Learning:
- Explore how self-directed learning empowers students and mitigates the risk of being overshadowed by AI
- Learn strategies to create inclusive and personalised learning environments that encourage students to discover their unique potential.
Attention Training:
- Understand the importance of attention training and impulse control in an era of constant distractions
- Empower educators to guide students in deliberately choosing AI tools aligned with self-directed learning principles.
Collaborative Creation:
- Emphasize the value of collaborative creation over passive consumption of AI-generated content
- Discover ways to leverage AI tools as co-pilots to enhance creativity and problem-solving skills.
Critical & Visual Thinking and Problem-Solving:
- Engage students in creating their own learning content
- Learn to adapt teaching methods and assessments to foster critical thinking and real-world problem-solving skills.
Join me in this workshop to explore the intersection of AI, ethics, and education, and discover how to harness the power of AI to create more engaging, inclusive, and empowering learning experiences for students.
